Amelia's 1st Food!

On Thursday, February 9 we gave Amelia rice cereal for the first time!

She LOVED it!

With the first bite, she made a little face, but after that I just couldn't give them to her fast enough!

 "mmm?"

 "mmm!!!"

 "This is good stuff!"

"humm... do i want more?"

 "YES! but you are to slow Mama! I'll just lean in and get it before you make it to my mouth!"

 I only gave her a tablespoon mixed with 4 or 5 tablespoons of breastmilk... but she loved every bite!

She is getting so big so fast. 

I don't even know what to do!

I can't wait till we can try more foods!!

 But, Dr. Berg says not until 6 months... 

we'll see!

Ear Piercing

Today Mom & I took Amelia to East View Mall to get her ears pierced!

We had them done at Piercing Pagoda.

It was one year ago today that I found out I was pregnant with her, and thought this would be the perfect celebration! 

There are a ton of photos of our little adventure...

 so here we go!

 The woman who did them was AMAZING! 

This is the little distraction she let Amelia hold!

 Yeah... she had NO CLUE what was coming her way :(

 "ok... this is getting a little weird. I am not so sure this is a good thing..."

 Ear #1 ... left ear.

 I had to hold her like this. The lady said, "the tighter you hold, the better the piercing" ... I held tight.

It took a moment, I think in stunned her a little, but she let out a cry like I have never heard before. It was SOOO SAD. :(

By this time, Amelia knows exactly what is going on... and is NOT happy about it.

We walked down and found a bench so I could nurse her.

She was such a trooper!!

 I have not heard a peep about it since!

She was so good tonight about letting me 

clean them and turn them!

They are SO CUTE!

I am so glad we did them!

(just as a side note... I just checked the details of these photos... from the first to the last there is only a 10 min gap. Yup.. all this happened in the span of 10 min!)

4 Months!

Happy 4 month birthday Miss Amelia! 

It has been the most WONDERFUL months of our lives!

We love you so much and cannot believe how fast you are growing!

As usual, I have to begin with a look back at the day you were born! So tiny, so new!

In just 4 short months you are blossoming into this beautiful little girl, full of life and personality! Every day is an adventure! 

 Month 4 has been pretty awesome! You are so much fun with all of your smiles and giggles! You are starting to play with things now. Grasping for them and putting them in your mouth! You are our little explorer!

 Early this month Daddy got out your exersaucer/jumpy thing and put it together! At first you just stared at all the little toys! We didn't leave you in it for very long because your little feet didn't even touch the floor. Now, at the end of the month, your feet are almost completely flat on the floor and you love to play with the toys! You love to spin the little froggy the most! And move the beads up and down! It has been a life saver for Mommy at times... i get to go to the bathroom by myself! And have even managed to do some dishes! :) It is so hard to put you down! I want to spend every moment I have with you!

 Mommy still loves dressing you all up! You have so many cute clothes that were given to you or handed down from Sophie & Ella! We love to try on all the cute outfits and the occasional shoes! You are so pretty and look good in every color and pattern!

 This month Mommy learned how to make onesies! Papa calls you his "Squeezle" and that is why I made you this "Papa's Squeezle" onesie! I just love making things for you! Someday we will make things together!

 You still LOVE bath time and showers with Mama! You are so happy! You love to feel the shower on your back and on the top of your head! You don't even mind when the water runs over your face! You do hate getting out though.... and are not a big fan of getting lotioned! 

 You on the changing table! We spend lots of time here, don't we! All those poops and outfit changes!

 On January 20 we took the newborn napper out and you started sleeping flat in the pack-n-play! Mommy was a little worried about how you would sleep, but you did AMAZINGLY! You only got up one time, at your regular 5am to eat! Mommy and Daddy were so happy!

 So Happy! You still go to daycare while Mommy and Daddy are at work! You love Ann and Crystal! They are so good to you! They both enjoy rocking you to sleep and say you are the best baby in their room right now! You are such a pleasure to be around! People cannot resist smiling when you are around! You bring joy to the lives of everyone! Especially family, but strangers as well!

 Look at all those rolls!!! Mommy loves to munch on you all the time! Seeing as though it is winter I don't get to see you in just a diaper very often! I love your round little belly and your cute chunky legs! And those CHEEKS!!! Who can resist 'em!! You are SO tasty!! Right before I took this picture I blew a raspberry on your belly for the first time and you loved it! You smiled, laughed, and told me all about how fun it was! (might  i add, about 3 min after this I got you all dressed in a nice new outfit, picked you up, and you threw up all over your new outfit and down my neck and shirt!)

 This was a sad day, a sad day indeed. Your nails needed to be trimmed really bad, so I went to work on them! I finished your right hand with no problem. Then moved to the left. I ended up clipping the end of your finger with the nail clippers. It was HORRIBLE. First you looked at me like I had just destroyed your life, like I was the biggest traitor. Then you gave me "the lip" and burst into tears. Then I burst into tears. It was so bad. I felt horrible... I decided maybe i could help you calm down by nursing you. So, you latched on and BIT me. Karma I suppose. I guess I deserved it! I am happy to report that you got over it a lot faster than I did. (i still want to cry thinking about it)

 The BIG news of the month are these two little teeth that have emerged! You are so little I cannot believe you have teeth! Daddy got this great picture of them while he was taking your 4 month pictures! Go Daddy! You are really starting to chew on things and use those teeth! I suppose this next month we will have a lot of first foods to blog about! Got to put those big teeth to use!!!

New Car

Ahhh... My Chevy Cobalt.

What a good little car you were! 

So many firsts, so many memories... 

This was my college graduation present to myself! 

Unfortunatly I married a tall man, who did not fit so well in my little car! He couldn't see so well out of it, and it was no longer safe for our little family...

Be free little car... go forth... brighten someone else's life.... make memories... be good... be safe... i shall miss you :)

Amelia's 2nd Tooth!

Wa Wa Wa What??!!!

I can't believe it either! Amelia has ANOTHER tooth!

Yes, her bottom right tooth now as an equally sharp companion!

On January 31, 2012 Amelia's 2nd tooth cut through!

This one was a lot easier on both of us I think. She was not as fussy as the first time around, and I actually knew what was going on! Because I knew her tooth was coming in, I massaged her gums, gave her cold things to chew on (i.e. frozen toys, binkies, washcloths!)  Her favorite is a massage though... I just rubbed and rubbed and rubbed her sweet little gums!

She also thinks it is funny to bite. Yeah, you're funny Sharptooth!

Mommy loves you so much! I cannot believe how quickly you are growing! You are such a fun little girl! Pretty soon, you are going to be eating "real food" with those chompers!

New adventures are just around the corner!

Amelia's 1st Tooth!

To be honest, I thought I would have a few months before I would write this post... but Amelia surprised me!

Amelia had been doing more of this (below) than usual lately and it was really starting to concern me. (Yes, my parents Christmas tree is still up!!) I took her to the doctor and found she had an ear infection. She was treated for that but was STILL fussy, Not a ton, but more than her normal self.

 So, last Tuesday I called the doctors office again and told them she was still fussy and not acting herself. The told me I had better bring her in because she is still so little. After a peek in her ears and a quick exam, Dr. Berg said she had good news and bad news.

Good News: Her ears were all clear and looked GREAT!

Bad News: There was nothing she could do for me.

Hummm...not a clue what it could be.

So... after some more of this...

Amelia's first tooth!!!

On Wednesday I could see it... and on Thursday, January 19, 2011 Amelia's bottom right tooth popped through the skin!!

BOY IS IT SHARP!!!

I always said I would stop nursing when my babies got teeth. I didn't think she would get it this early, so we will learn to deal!! I don't want to stop nursing and still plan to go on until at least her 1st birthday!

She bites a lot... mostly my finger... and almost every time I nurse.

Other than a few little shouts here and there, I presume it still hurts, and she is probably getting more she is doing GREAT!!!!

3 Months!

Miss Amelia is 3 months old!

She is growing so fast!

Here is my little peanut when she was just a few days old! Just a little reminder of how tiny she was and how fast she has grown into the sweet little girl of my dreams!

 Amelia is such a sweet baby! She has been learning lots of new tricks and skills! She also has a pretty strong opinion on the things that she loves!

This is one of her new tricks! She learned how to find her "thlum" and likes to suck on it! She doesn't do it terribly often during the day, but uses it during the night. I have also caught her with her two middle fingers in her mouth like her cousin Ella! 

 Amelia loves to snuggle her Mama! I love when she curls right up into my neck to nap!

 Amelia is a snuggler! She loves to nap with her Papa!

 We also discovered the mirror this month! She loves to look at "that cute baby" in the mirror! She loves to smile and talk to her as well! It is SO CUTE! 

Amelia LOVES to take baths! She recently grew out of the little hammock and now sits nicely in her tub! She discovered on Tuesday that when she kicks her feet the water splashes out and she gets a reaction from her wet Mama! It was so cute, so Daddy just got a towel to soak the water up from the carpet and we let her kick to her hearts content!!

Even more than the bath, she LOVES to take a shower with her Mama! I have taken her in several times and she gets so excited! She is all smiles! She also gets so relaxed that she even fell asleep once! She loves when I let the water hit her back, and she loves getting her hair washed and rinsed!

 Amelia is such a happy girl! She brings smiles (almost) everywhere we go! She makes me smile everyday! She loves to talk as well! Sometimes we just sit and chat! I love the way she moves her mouth when she talks to me! She has such great expressions!!!

 We read to Amelia when I was pregnant and I continued reading to her from the day she was born! She loves to sit in my lap and look at the pictures as I read her the story, or sometimes make up my own! She will even sit through long stories! I recently pulled out these touch and feel books and we enjoy feeling them with her hands and feet! She gets so excited! She likes the grass page, the cloud page, and the towel page. She also liked the cardboard page, and thinks the sandpaper page is weird! She will scrunch up all of her toes when i gently rub them on the sandpaper! It is SO CUTE!

 My little stinker will do ANYTHING to be able to see the television! It makes me laugh! This picture was taken New Years Eve... she was watching some rapper on the tv... oops!

Amelia loves kisses! Heaven knows she gets so many she better like em! I love to kiss her sweet cheeks and munch on her chin and neck! She thinks it is pretty funny too!

This has been the most amazing past 3 months of my life! Amelia is such a blessing! She is such a sweet girl! She is generally so calm and relaxed! She is so happy and sleeps so well! We usually put her to bed after a nice snuggle around 9 and she will sleep until 5 or 6 in the morning!

Amelia, Mommy and Daddy love you SO MUCH! You have brought more joy to our lives than we could have ever imagined!

We cannot wait to see what this next month brings!
