The Lilac Disaster

Yesterday we went to the Lilac Festival in Rochester.
My Mom had always wanted to go, and never gotten to.... so we went!
It seemed to be a BEAUTIFUL day, even a little hot.
Here is Sophie smelling some of the lilacs.
There were so many different kinds. They were all SO beautiful!

Here is one of Andrew & I in front of a tulip tree.
I had never seen one before... beautiful!

This is when things started to go downhill. All of a sudden the sky went gray. The clouds covered us and it got dark. It was sprinkling, so we did what all intelligent people do. We sought shelter under a large tree.

The tree was actually really neat. People had been carving their names & initials in it for years. It also had tons of wild branches that made it perfect for sitting in & picture taking!

Here is a SUPER CUTE one of Sophie in the tree!

Here is one of Andrew in the tree.

One of Sarah & Sophie.

ewwww.... kisses!

The rain let up a little and so we made our way down the slip & slide of a sidewalk. At the bottom we saw this beautiful arrangement of pansies. You cannot tell in the picture, but it is a sunrise!

Then it started to POUR, and when I say POUR, I mean POUR!

The wind was blowing SO hard. It was awful. The wind was blowing rain straight into the stroller so I had to turn the stroller around and pull it from behind.

By the way... we were just about as far away from the car that we could get.

Now for the best part of the story. After the above picture we had to make our way through the crowd. I was pushing the stroller and a woman stopped RIGHT in front of me. So, I stopped and Sarah ran into me. All I felt was baby belly in my back! Then I hear her laughing and saying, "go, go, go. We have to get out of here." ...She had peed her pants! We all started laughing hysterically which made her pee even more! It was SO funny!

SO, Mom & Sarah found a Port-a-Potty while Andrew, Sophie, & I went to the car. We had to find something for her to sit on! When they got back Sarah had toilet paper stuck to her hand.... she assures us that it was from blowing her nose.... mmmm.... sounds kind of fishy! Just kidding!

Here we are when we all finally made it to the car.

The sun had started to come back out!

Andrew really wanted to go to the Olive Garden for lunch/dinner. Do you think they would have let us in looking like this? Probably NOT! We went to Target and had to get dry clothes... then off to Olive Garden we went!

What a disaster of a day!! Yet so much fun!
Heck, we are already making plans for next year!!!
