Valentines Treat

Look, I "baked" again!

In general I hate Valentine's Day. SO- I decided this year I was going to make something yummy for those I love!

And so I made:

Craisin Scones!
Here is the recipe:
2 Cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
2/3 cup buttermilk
1 Egg
1 tablespoon milk
confectioners sugar
1. Preheat oven to 400. Place rack in the center of your oven, and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
3.Cut the butter into small pieces and blend into the flour mixture with a pastry blender or two knives.
4. Add the buttermilk. Stir just until the the dough comes together. DO NOT over mix.

5. Add Craisins (or anything else)... I REALLY like to use blueberries... but they are blue, and I wanted something red for Valentines Day!!

6. Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead gently for or five times.
7. Roll out dough. (Generally when I make the blueberry scones I make about a 7 inch circle, and then cut it like a pie to make wedge shaped scones)
8. Cut out heart shapes and place on cookie sheet with parchment paper. CUTE!
9. Make an egg wash with 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of milk.
10. Brush the top of the scones with the egg wash.
11. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick in the middle comes out clean.
12. Sprinkle confectioners sugar on top!!
13. Make them look really cute! And give them to those you love!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!
I LOVE YOU!
